Can you polish Corian to a High Gloss?

A High gloss finish on Corian is a highly sought-after and popular request from our customers. Especially on darker surfaces as a high gloss finish deepens the colours and gives the pattern a greater contrast making the finish more vivid.
We have even been asked to polish newly fitted Corian countertops literally days after they have been fitted because the kitchen fitters finish has been lacklustre.
Apparently, some Corian installers can not achieve a mirror finish when polishing. My guess would be that this is either due to poor training or lacking the correct items to bring the surface to a sufficient finish that the customer has requested.
Polishing Corian to a mirror finish is not for everyone, Corian is relatively soft and a gloss finish will make scratches more prominent. A polished finish will also make manufacturing surface ripples more noticeable.
Another issue we have been asked to resolve when attending a fresh installation is swirl marks from sanding the surface. These are left behind when an installer is either lazy or blind.
Corian scratch damage is polished with Tcut or similar products available at most supermarkets.
